Book Club! My Top 3 Self-Help/Wellness Books For Self Improvement

The past year has been a year of reading for me. I was never really into reading until I started getting into wellness. I quickly learned how reading is kind of like a mindfulness practice for me, and it just makes me feel good.

Self help books are pretty popular in the wellness space. To be honest, there are a lot that I checked out of my library and could never really get past the first few chapters of. So, I'm definitely particular about my books.

The books that I actually got all the way through are ones that I genuinely feel I will carry information from throughout the rest of my life. Not to be dramatic, but I believe a book really can change your life if you let it!

So, here are my top 3 self help books that I feel really helped me in some aspect of life. Try them out and reading might just become your new favorite wellness practice!

The Untethered Soul

The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer has a 4.6 rating on GoodReads, which is pretty high- deservedly so. I started this book because I saw someone on social media say how much it changed her life. I was at a place where I felt like I needed some change, so I picked it up.

This book is a very spiritual book. It aims to connect you with your true self, thoughts, and feelings. The main key for me was that it helped me find inner peace and helped me understand that my thoughts are not always the truth.

By that, I mean my sadness, anger, and jealousy shouldn't hold as much weight on me as they did. The book helps you realize that you can take control of your own mind in a way that makes every day more peaceful.

It might sound a little hippie-ish, but the informations and perspectives from this book are SO impactful. I love this book! If you're looking for peace and for the cure to worrying and uncontrollable feelings... read this book. There is also a follow up book, as well as a guided journal that I think would both be super useful.

Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself

I recommend this book to anyone who is too hard on themself. This has always been something I've struggled with, but then came this book.

I used to think that being hard on myself was a good thing, and that it was the way to push myself to be better. This book completely changed my thoughts about that!

Something super cool about this book is that the author has a website where you can learn even more about self-compassion. The website has tools and guides to help you practice self-compassion. I highly recommend checking it out- even if you haven't read the book!

This book taught me to change my critical self-talk and to not judge myself for my feelings or behaviors. I'm telling you- the things in this book are SO important!!! Do yourself a favor and read it!

The Mountain Is You

I love this book. The Mountain Is You teaches you how to stop self-sabotage and become the best version of yourself.

This book teaches you that you probably self-sabotage, even if you don't think that you do, or don't even know what that means. Self-sabotage is unconscious things we do that stand in the way of our happiness or success.

The book teaches you how to recognize self-sabotage and how to overcome it to stop doing it. It also shows you how you can be happy now, instead of waiting for everything to be perfect to feel happy.

This book really helped me to control my negative emotions and start living on the path to happiness and success. My favorite quote from the book says,

"The reality is that inner peace is the true happiness, and everything else is just a false means of trying to convince yourself you are 'okay'".

These are the 3 books that I feel genuinely changed how I live my life. I find myself using the things I learned from each book, every single day.

Even if self-help books aren't really your thing, I really suggest trying one (or all 3) of these books out, because they can actually help you out!

Let me know if you read any! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
